Natural Gas Storage Level Deviations

Description

Storage Deviations chart shows by how much storage level differs (or deviates) from its 5-year average level as well as from a year ago figures. Left axis is intentionally inverted to illustrate the correlation between the deviations and the price of natural gas. Storage data is calculated for the end of the working week (Friday).

Definitions:

  • 5-year av. dev. - the difference between natural gas inventory and its 5-year average (calculated in billion cubic feet).
  • Annual dev. - the difference between natural gas inventory and previous year results.
  • Storage forecast - the latest Bluegold Research storage forecast.
  • Natural gas futures price is the closing price on the day of the EIA report (usually, Thursday).

Updated every weekday by 9 AM Eastern time.
